Neymar’s turbulent run at Paris Saint-Germain has taken another turn after the club released a statement threatening the player with punishment after he failed to present himself on Monday as expected.

The Brazilian was expected to report back in the French capital for the pre-season activities, though his entourage insist that he was due extra days’ rest having begun Copa America preparations before being hit by injury.

“On Monday 8 July, Neymar da Silva Santos Junior was due to return to pre-season activities with the Paris Saint-Germain senior squad,” the statement read.

“Paris Saint-Germain notes that Neymar Jr was not in attendance at the agreed time and place.

“This was without the club’s prior authorisation.

“The club regrets this situation and will therefore take appropriate action.”

Meanwhile Neymar’s father who is also his agent has strongly reacted to the PSG statement. He told they are angry about the way club is dealing with the situation.

“We had commercial and institutional actions [to carry out], the Neymarinstitution has been doing these actions for five years and we’ve always needed to do them each year,” Neymar Senior told Fox Sports Brazil.

“PSG, in the presence of president Nasser [Al-Khelaifi], even participated in these actions.

“I don’t understand the reason for the randomness. We’re angry, but PSG knew about this situation.”

As well as events with his institution, Neymar is due to participate in a Red Bull event on July 12 and 13 in Brazil.

The speculations about Neymar’s return to Barcelona have been doing the rounds amidst the player’s reluctance join the French camp on time.
