Real Madrid youngster Takefusa Kubo to join Villarreal on loan

Real Madrid and Villarreal have agreed terms for Takefusa Kubo to join the Yellow Submarines on loan in the 2020/21 season.

Takefuso Kubo has been in limbo since his loan spell with RCD Mallorca ended. He was one of the club’s best players last season, but he couldn’t help them stay up.

After being linked with loan moves to Sevilla, Granada, Osasuna, Ajax, Real Sociedad, Bayern Munich and others, Kubo and Madrid have made a decision.

The Japanese play-maker will now join Unai Emery’s Villarreal project on a one-year, according to a report in AS.

Real Madrid want Kubo to continue gaining more experience in La Liga. The club plans to integrate him into the first team in the 2021/22 season.

Madrid chose Villarreal because of their new manager, Emery. The Spaniard has a respectable CV in coaching, despite his last stint which didn’t go too well.

The other reason was Villarreal’s qualification to play in the UEFA Europa League. Madrid want Kubo to also experience Europe as they plan ahead of his integration into the first team.

Bayern Munich were also in for the young Japanese star. AS reports that Madrid considered the switch but eventually chose Villarreal instead.
