Al-Hilal’s Injured Salem Al-Dawsari Out of Club World Cup
Al-Hilal captain Salem Al-Dawsari will miss the remainder of the FIFA Club World Cup after suffering a hamstring injury, the Saudi Arabian club announced on Saturday.
The influential forward sustained the injury during his side’s 2-0 group stage victory over Mexican club Pachuca on Thursday, a match in which he scored the opening goal.
“Medical tests have confirmed that Salem Al-Dawsari has suffered from a hamstring injury,” Al-Hilal said in a statement posted on the social media platform X. “He will be undergoing a treatment and rehabilitation program that will last between four to six weeks.”
The injury is a significant blow for Al-Hilal, ruling their captain out of Monday’s high-profile round-of-16 clash against English Premier League champions Manchester City in Orlando.
Al-Dawsari was instrumental in guiding the four-time Asian champions to the knockout phase of the tournament. His goal against Pachuca helped secure a second-place finish for Al-Hilal in Group H, behind group winners Real Madrid.
