Chelsea have completed the signing of highly rated midfielder Harrison Bettoni from Wigan Athletic, with the 18-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2030.
The promising youngster joins the Blues after an impressive breakthrough campaign with Wigan’s senior side, where he made 27 first-team appearances during the 2025-26 season.
Primarily deployed as an attacking midfielder, Bettoni also demonstrated his versatility by featuring as a striker when required, earning widespread praise for his performances in League One.
Bettoni announced himself in memorable fashion after making his senior debut in the EFL Trophy. His first League One appearance proved even more remarkable, as he came off the bench against AFC Wimbledon and scored a stunning free-kick with his very first touch to level the match before netting an injury-time winner to secure Wigan’s first away victory of the season.
The teenager continued to impress throughout the campaign, scoring in a 2-0 League One victory over Burton Albion before producing another decisive moment in the FA Cup, netting the only goal in Wigan’s third-round triumph over Preston North End.
Chelsea believe Bettoni is one of England’s brightest young attacking prospects and have rewarded his potential with a long-term contract as they continue investing in emerging talent for the future.
The move sees Bettoni become the latest addition to Chelsea’s academy setup, with the club hoping he can continue his development at Cobham before eventually challenging for a place in the senior squad.
Chelsea welcomed the youngster following the announcement, as Bettoni begins the next chapter of his career with the West London club after a standout breakthrough season at Wigan Athletic.
