Debutant Chilwell made a perrfect start as Chelsea Thrash Palace 4-0 in second half onslaught

Chelsea bursted at Stamford Bridge to a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace as goals from Ben Chilwell, Kurt Zouma and Jorginho downed the Eagles.

The Blues picked up a much-needed three points after being without a Premier League victory since the opener against Brighton.

Frank Lampard’s much-changed side then fell to a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool before a disappointing 3-3 draw away at West Brom.

But on a week where Chelsea also crashed out of the Carabao Cup, the Blues were back in their groove in style against their London rivals.

Palace started to come alive as the half flew by, with captain Wilfried Zaha posing all sorts of issues up front whilst Andros Townsend hovered around.

Following an uninspiring first half, the Blues surged in front five minutes from halftime after Chilwell showed quick alertness to thump home a loose ball at the back-post.

After a quiet first-half, Chelsea got their revenge, and Chilwell wasn’t the only summer signing to impress.

Thiago Silva added an air of calmness in defence, while Kai Havertz pulled the strings in the other half of the pitch throughout.

Chelsea missed a promising opportunity for a second on 58 minutes as Kurt Zouma jumped high in the area to head Chilwell’s corner from the right wide of the mark.

Zouma would amend on 66 minutes when he got up at the far post to nod another delivery from Chilwell past a grappling Guaita.

Palace went in search of a turnaround soon thereafter, as a double substitution in Jairo Riedewald and Luka Milivojevic set into the field.

Jorginho however put the contest to bed after sending Guaita the wrong way from the penalty spot 77 minutes in as Tammy Abraham went down in the area.

Chelsea were able to run down the remaining minutes quite successfully to confirm their second win of the season.
