The opening matchday of the 2026/27 Champions League concluded with another night of emphatic wins and late drama, as Manchester United and Bayern Munich recorded convincing victories while Como announced themselves on the European stage.
Man Utd 4-0 Sabah
Manchester United made a comfortable start to their European campaign with a 4-0 victory over Sabah at Old Trafford.
Michael Carrickโs side took control before half-time, with Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko all finding the net. Lisandro Martรญnez added a fourth in the 68th minute as United moved into fourth place in the early league-phase table.
Sabah, appearing at this level for the first time, struggled to create a sustained attacking threat.
Bayern Munich 5-0 Bodo/Glimt
Bayern Munich produced an even more emphatic result, sweeping aside Bodo/Glimt 5-0 at the Allianz Arena.
Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock shortly after half-time before Harry Kane doubled Bayernโs advantage in the 61st minute. Alphonso Davies and Michael Olise then added further goals, with Olise completing his brace late on.
Bodo/Glimt were reduced to 10 men after Odin Luras Bjortuft was sent off, with Bayern taking full advantage to move into second place.
Como 4-1 RB Leipzig
One of the nightโs biggest stories came in Italy, where Como marked their first Champions League appearance with a stunning 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig.
Martin Baturina and Anastasios Douvikas put Cesc Fabregasโ side two goals ahead before Assane Diao extended the advantage early in the second half.
Andrija Maksimovic pulled one back for Leipzig, but Maximo Perrone restored Comoโs three-goal cushion late on to complete a memorable European debut.
Slavia Prague 2-3 Lens
Lens produced the most dramatic comeback of the night, scoring twice in stoppage time to beat Slavia Prague 3-2.
Slavia went down to 10 men when Mikulas Konecny was dismissed early in the second half, but Danijel Sturm still put the hosts ahead.
Abdallah Sima equalised in the 73rd minute before Sturm struck again in the 88th. Lens, however, refused to accept defeat, with Florian Thauvin and Ruben Aguilar scoring in stoppage time to complete an extraordinary turnaround.
Four matches, 19 goals and two stoppage-time winners brought the opening Champions League matchday to a thrilling conclusion.
