Chelsea have made their third signing of the summer with the arrival of English right back Ben Chilwell from Leicester City this afternoon.
The 23-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge after signing a five-year contract, and will become Chelsea’s go-to player in the left back slot when Lampard plays his favoured four-at-the-back formations.

Welcome to Chelsea, @BenChilwell! 💙 #BenIsBlue
Chilwell was a key part of an impressive 2019/20 for Brendan Rodgers’ side in a system that demanded high output from the full-backs. Along with Ricardo Pereira at right-back, Chilwell performed well across the board and a move to Chelsea became ideal for both the club and the player.
Leicester City Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached for the sale of Ben Chilwell to Chelsea for an undisclosed fee.

The player became Frank Lampard’s top target at left-back, and it became clear the player was eager to move to West London. The move has been a highly publicised switch, with talk of an initial fee of around £80 million being quoted by Leicester. The two clubs were in discussions over the last month regarding the player, with the fee reducing to around £50 million as a result.
