Dominant Galatasaray Clinch Record 25th Turkish Super Lig Title
Galatasaray secured their record 25th Turkish Super Lig championship with two matches to spare on Sunday, May 18, 2025, after a comprehensive 3-0 victory away at Kayserispor. The win established an insurmountable eight-point lead over their Istanbul arch-rivals, Fenerbahce.
The triumph allows Galatasaray to add a coveted fifth star to their club crest, a symbol in Turkish football representing five league titles.
Galatasaray asserted their dominance in the first half. Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 26th minute, quickly followed by a goal from Turkish winger Baris Alper Yilmaz just three minutes later. The championship was emphatically sealed in the second half when veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera converted a penalty, sparking widespread celebrations among the club’s supporters across Turkey.
This season has seen Galatasaray and Fenerbahce significantly outperform other Super Lig contenders. With the latest results, Galatasaray stand on 89 points. Fenerbahce, who defeated Eyupspor 2-1 on the same day, are in second place with 81 points, extending their wait for a league title beyond a decade. Third-placed Samsunspor trail considerably with 60 points.
Galatasaray’s championship campaign has been marked by consistent excellence, suffering only one defeat throughout the league season (against Besiktas). They have scored a total of 87 goals while conceding 31. The victory at Kayserispor was a fitting culmination of their season-long efforts.
