Done Deal: Aston Villa Secure Alejandro Garnacho on Loan from Chelsea with Mandatory Purchase Clause

The deal has been agreed between both clubs, with Garnacho’s medical already scheduled as Villa move quickly to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Villa manager Unai Emery is understood to have personally identified Garnacho as a priority target, with the Spaniard keen to add the dynamic winger to his attacking options following an active summer in the transfer market.

The move comes just days after Chelsea completed the British-record £117 million signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with the two clubs continuing to work closely as they reshape their squads.

Although Chelsea signed Garnacho from Manchester United for around £40 million only last September, the Blues decided to make him available this summer as part of their efforts to streamline the squad following several high-profile arrivals.

The Argentine struggled to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge, contributing eight goals and four assists in 43 appearances across all competitions, including just one Premier League goal. The arrivals of Morgan Rogers and highly-rated winger Geovany Quenda further reduced his chances of regular first-team football.

Chelsea had initially valued Garnacho at around £43 million but remained open to a loan arrangement that could become permanent if agreed conditions are met. Manchester United, Garnacho’s former club, are also expected to receive 10 per cent of any future transfer fee under the terms of his previous sale.

For Aston Villa, Garnacho is set to become the club’s fourth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Johan Manzambi, João Gomes and Modou Keba Cissé. The Midlands club has also generated significant funds through player sales, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin among those departing Villa Park.

Emery believes Garnacho’s pace, direct running and creativity will add another dimension to Villa’s attack as the club prepares for the new campaign.

With the agreement now in place and medical tests booked, only the final formalities remain before Garnacho is officially unveiled as an Aston Villa player. The transfer marks another significant piece of business in what has been a busy summer for both Villa and Chelsea as they continue to balance squad rebuilding with financial sustainability.
