East Bengal Lift 17th Durand Cup After Thrashing Mohun Bagan 4-1
Edmund Lalrindhikaโs hat-trick powers East Bengal to a historic victory and ends their 22-year wait for the Durand Cup.
East Bengal won the 135th Durand Cup. East Bengal won their 17th Durand Cup title by defeating Mohun Bagan Super Giants by 4 goals to 1 in the final.
East Bengal’s victory was over crowned due to the hat-trick of star striker Edmund Lalrindhika. Bipin Singh scored the fourth goal for East Bengal. On the other hand, Manvir Singh scored a consolation goal for Mohun Bagan Super Giants.

Both teams came out with a starting XI consisting of big stars. But East Bengal took complete dominance right from the start of the match.
East Bengal had scored three goals by the 22nd minute of the match. Later, in the 33rd minute, Mohun Bagan started showing signs of a comeback through Manvir Singh.
However, Mohun Bagan started to lose control when Edmund Lalrindhika scored his third goal in the 44th minute to complete his hat-trick.
Mohun Bagan played some excellent attacking football in the second half but failed to find the net. With this, East Bengal secured victory.
East Bengal won the Durand Cup after a 22-year wait. East Bengal last won the Durand Cup in 2004.

NorthEast United’s Alaaeddine Ajaraie, who scored nine goals in the tournament, won the Golden Boot. Mohun Bagan Super Giants’ Vishal Kaith, who also kept three clean sheets, won the Golden Glove.
Edmund Lalrindhika, who scored a hat-trick for East Bengal in the final and put in a brilliant performance in the tournament, won the Golden Ball of the tournament.
Durand Cup winner East Bengal will receive Rs 1.21 crore and runner-up Mohun Bagan will receive Rs 60 lakh.
