Fulham end Liverpool’s 26-Match Unbeaten Premier League Run

Fulham dealt Premier League leaders Liverpool their first league defeat in 27 matches, coming from behind to secure a stunning 3-2 victory at Craven Cottage on Sunday, April 6th. A three-goal blitz in just 13 first-half minutes proved decisive for Marco Silva’s side.

Liverpool, seemingly cruising towards the title, took the lead through a superb 25-yard strike from Alexis Mac Allister. However, Fulham responded emphatically before halftime. Ryan Sessegnon equalized with a smart first-time finish after an Andreas Pereira cross wasn’t cleared. Alex Iwobi then put the hosts ahead nine minutes later; his initial shot was blocked after intercepting a poor pass from Andy Robertson, but his follow-up deflected in off the Liverpool defender. Rodrigo Muniz added a third just before the break, finishing calmly after keeping the ball alive following a corner clearance.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool, whose 26-match unbeaten league run came to an end, improved significantly in the second half. Diogo Jota missed an early chance, denied by Bernd Leno. Substitute Luis Diaz pulled a goal back in the 72nd minute, finishing from Conor Bradley’s pass. Fellow substitute Harvey Elliott came closest to leveling, hitting the crossbar with a curling effort, but Fulham held on for a famous victory.

Liverpool’s Title March Halted, but Lead Remains Commanding

Despite the defeat, Liverpool remain 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table with seven games remaining. They need a maximum of 11 more points to guarantee their 20th top-flight title. The loss, however, serves as a reminder that the title race is not yet mathematically sealed, highlighting defensive frailties that Fulham exploited ruthlessly in the first half. Liverpool were guilty of errors for all three Fulham goals.

The victory is a significant boost for Fulham’s ambitions of qualifying for European competition next season. They move up to eighth place, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Marco Silva’s team showed resilience and clinical finishing to overcome the league leaders, delivering a memorable performance at Craven Cottage.
