Newly signed Al Nassr striker Jhon Duran has become the center of controversy after receiving a red card in just his fourth appearance for the Saudi Pro League club, sparking disbelief and debate among fans. Duran, who joined Al Nassr from Aston Villa in a high-profile transfer last month, was dismissed in the 92nd minute following an altercation with Al Ettifaq midfielder Abdulelah Almalki. The Colombian striker, visibly frustrated with the scoreline, appeared to playfully tap Almalki on the back of the head. Almalki subsequently fell to the ground, prompting the referee to issue a straight red card to Duran.

Duran’s move to Al Nassr was one of the most surprising transfers of the winter window. The Saudi club reportedly paid a substantial fee, exceeding £64 million with add-ons, to secure the services of the Colombian international, with Duran’s annual salary reported to be in the region of €20 million (£16.7 million). He had made a promising start to his Al Nassr career, scoring twice in each of his first two league games.
