Harry Kane scored a hat-trick as defending champions Bayern Munich made a powerful statement on the opening day of the new Bundesliga season, overwhelming RB Leipzig 6-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Under new manager Vincent Kompany, Bayern delivered a dominant performance from the first whistle, showcasing a ruthless attacking display. The hosts took control in the 27th minute when new signing Michael Olise scored his first of two goals on the night, followed just five minutes later by another debut goal from Luis Díaz, who arrived from Liverpool this summer. Olise completed his brace just before the break, putting Bayern in a commanding 3-0 lead.

While Bayern’s new-look attack impressed in the first half, it was captain Kane who took center stage after the interval. The England international netted his first goal in the 64th minute, capping off a swift counter-attack. The visitors, coached by new manager Ole Werner, thought they had a goal back through substitute Antonio Nusa, but it was disallowed after a video review determined the ball was not stationary when a free-kick was taken in the build-up.

Kane then capitalized on Leipzig’s misfortune, adding a second goal with an expert strike from the edge of the box in the 74th minute, and completed his hat-trick just three minutes later to seal the resounding victory.

The win extends Bayern’s impressive unbeaten streak on the opening day of a Bundesliga season to 14 years, serving as a powerful warning to their title rivals.

Bayern will next face Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the DFB Pokal on Wednesday before traveling to Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig will look to bounce back when they host Heidenheim on Saturday.
