Monza Re-Appoint Nesta as Manager After Brief Bocchetti Stint

Serie A strugglers Monza have re-appointed Alessandro Nesta as manager just seven weeks after sacking him.1 This unexpected move comes after Salvatore Bocchetti, Nesta’s replacement, failed to turn the club’s fortunes around and was dismissed following a heavy defeat to Lazio.2

Nesta’s first stint as Monza manager ended in December after a disappointing run of results, with the club managing just one win in 17 league games.3 Bocchetti was brought in to replace him, but he fared no better, overseeing just one win in seven league games and a 4-0 defeat to Bologna in the Coppa Italia.4

Monza’s Struggles

Monza’s decision to re-appoint Nesta highlights their desperate search for stability and a solution to their ongoing struggles. They currently sit bottom of the Serie A table with just 13 points from 24 games and are eight points adrift of safety.5

Nesta, a former Italy international and renowned defender with Lazio and AC Milan, now has a second chance to prove himself as Monza manager.6 He will be hoping to utilize his experience and tactical knowledge to guide the club away from the relegation zone.

Monza’s next match is against Lecce on Sunday. Nesta will be looking for an immediate improvement from his players as they battle to avoid relegation from Serie A.
