Motta Frustrated as Juventus Held to Another Draw

0

Juventus manager Thiago Motta expressed his disappointment after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Torino. Despite remaining unbeaten in Serie A this season, Juventus have now drawn 12 of their 19 matches, highlighting their struggles to turn draws into victories.

Kenan Yildiz gave Juventus an early lead, but Nikola Vlasic equalized for Torino, leaving the Bianconeri in fifth place, 11 points behind leaders Napoli. This result puts Juventus in a rare statistical category, becoming only the second team since the introduction of three points for a win to draw at least 12 of their first 19 games in a Serie A season.

Motta voiced his frustration with his team’s performance, particularly their inability to maintain their lead. “We started well, but after taking the lead we dropped too deep, allowing them to create chances,” he said. He emphasized the need for greater aggression and better game management to secure wins.

Motta Demands Improvement

Despite acknowledging the challenges posed by a young squad and injuries, Motta refused to make excuses. “We [have] talked about this situation,” he added, highlighting the need for improvement. While Juventus have only lost two matches in all competitions this season, the sheer number of draws, especially after taking the lead, is a major concern.

Luiz Impresses on Return

Juventus were without striker Dusan Vlahovic due to injury, but welcomed back Douglas Luiz, whose performance impressed Motta. The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club this month, but Motta emphasized his importance to the team. “He played very well, I’m very happy with his performance,” he said.

Challenges Ahead

Juventus face a challenging run of fixtures, with upcoming matches against Atalanta and AC Milan. Motta and his players will need to address their issues quickly if they hope to climb the Serie A table and challenge for the title. Their inability to convert draws into wins is holding them back, and finding a solution will be crucial to their success this season.
