Jude Bellingham’s impressive scoring streak continued, propelling Real Madrid back to La Liga’s summit with a victory over Villarreal. Bellingham, the English midfielder, notched his 13th league goal of the season in the 25th minute with a header from Luka Modric’s exquisite cross.

Real Madrid’s lead was doubled by Rodrygo, following a VAR decision that reversed an offside call. Villarreal’s Jose Luis Morales cut the lead after halftime, but Real quickly dashed any hopes of a comeback with rapid goals from Brahim Diaz and Modric.

Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, previously held to a draw by Real Betis and overtaken by Girona at the top, responded assertively. Girona, having defeated Barcelona, could regain the top spot if they win their upcoming match against Alaves.

Real Madrid, fresh off a perfect Champions League group stage, put Villarreal under relentless pressure. Bellingham, a summer signing from Borussia Dortmund for €103 million, missed an early opportunity but soon redeemed himself with his header.

Rodrygo’s goal, initially ruled offside, stood after review, but Villarreal responded with a goal from Morales in the 54th minute. Real’s response was swift, with Diaz and Modric scoring in quick succession.

The win was tempered by an injury to full-back David Alaba, who exited the game in the first half with a concerning knee issue.
