This result means Al Nassr must wait until their final match against Damac to secure the trophy. They currently sit five points clear of Al Hilal at the top of the table. That said, Al Hilal have a game in hand and face Neom this Saturday.
Ronaldo took to social media after the game to encourage his teammates despite the dejection. “The dream is close. Heads up, we have one more step to take!” the 41-year-old wrote. He thanked the fans for their amazing support on a frustrating night in Riyadh. The Portuguese icon is still searching for his first domestic title since moving to Saudi Arabia in 2023. Al Nassr will be crowned champions if Al Hilal drop points against Neom this weekend.
Otherwise, the race will be decided in the final round of fixtures on May 21. Kingsley Coman missed a significant chance to double the lead when his effort struck the post. Ronaldo’s arrival helped transform the league’s global profile and attract other high-profile names. However, he remains dejected as he waits for a first piece of silverware in the Middle East. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner could only watch from the dugout as late chaos cost his side. Al Nassr remain in the driving seat but must regroup quickly for their final hurdle.
