Morocco secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Niger in their World Cup qualifying campaign, overcoming a second-half deficit with a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Bilal El Khannouss. The win strengthens Morocco’s position in their qualifying group.

The match saw Morocco dominate possession (nearly 70%) and create numerous attacking opportunities from the outset. However, they were unable to break down a resolute Nigerien defense in the first half, which ended goalless.

Niger stunned the hosts two minutes into the second half, taking the lead through Youssouf Oumarou. Morocco responded quickly, equalizing in the 59th minute through Ismael Saibari.

Despite continued pressure and several attempts, Morocco struggled to find a second goal. Just as the match appeared to be heading for a draw, Bilal El Khannouss produced a moment of brilliance in added time, securing a vital win for the Atlas Lions.

The comeback victory highlights Morocco’s resilience and determination to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The late winner from El Khannouss provides a significant boost to their campaign.

Morocco sit at the top of group E with 12 points with four wins out of four games, while Niger stay second with 6 points.
