UCL Round of 16: Madrid Derby as Liverpool Face PSG, Arsenal Meet PSV
The Champions League last 16 draw has been made, and it has produced some exciting ties, including a clash between Premier League leaders Liverpool and French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven, while Aston Villa take on Club Brugge in an all-Premier League matchup.
Liverpool’s tie against PSG is a repeat of their 2018-19 group stage encounter, which saw the Reds progress to the knockout stages on their way to winning the Champions League title. PSG, who finished 15th in the league phase, will be looking to avenge that defeat and cause an upset against the Premier League leaders.
Arsenal face a tough test against PSV Eindhoven, who finished 14th in the league phase and defeated Liverpool in their final group game. The Gunners will be hoping to continue their impressive form in the Champions League and reach the quarter-finals.
Aston Villa will face a familiar opponent in Club Brugge, who they met in the league phase. Villa lost that encounter, but will be hoping to avenge that defeat and progress to the next round.
The other last 16 ties are:
- Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid
- Feyenoord vs Inter Milan
- Borussia Dortmund vs Lille
- Bayern Munich vs Bayer Leverkusen
- Benfica vs Barcelona
