Al-Qadisiyah beat Al Akhdoud to go third in Saudi Pro League
Al-Qadisiyah continued their impressive run in the Saudi Pro League with a convincing 2-0 victory over Al Akhdoud today. This win solidifies their position in the top three and keeps them in striking distance of the league leaders. Notably, the team achieved this result despite the absence of striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Julián Quiñones opened the scoring for Al-Qadisiyah in the 31st minute with a well-taken penalty. Turki Al-Ammar doubled the lead in the 51st minute, sealing the victory for the home side.
Al-Qadisiyah’s dominance was reflected in the match statistics. They outshot Al Akhdoud nine to six, with a clear advantage in shots on target (five to one). They also maintained a slight edge in possession and demonstrated superior passing accuracy.
This win lifts Al-Qadisiyah to 47 points, placing them third in the league standings. They have now won 15 of their 21 matches, losing only four. While they remain five points behind league leaders Al Ittihad, their consistent performances suggest they are a genuine contender for the title.
Al Akhdoud struggled to make an impact on the game and will need to improve their performance in upcoming matches to climb the table. They were unable to create clear-cut scoring opportunities and were ultimately outmatched by a strong Al-Qadisiyah side.
The Saudi Pro League title race remains exciting, with Al-Qadisiyah firmly in the mix. Their ability to perform well even without key players like Aubameyang is a testament to their squad depth and tactical flexibility. Fans will be eagerly anticipating their next match as they continue their push for the top spot.
