Antony Nets First Goal for Real Betis in Loss to Celta Vigo
Manchester United loanee Antony has continued his impressive start to life at Real Betis, scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-2 defeat to Celta Vigo. The Brazilian winger opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a superb finish, but Betis were unable to hold on for the victory.
Antony’s goal came in just his second appearance for Betis, having joined on loan from Manchester United in January. He has quickly settled into life in La Liga, earning the MVP award in both of his appearances for the club.
Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has been impressed with Antony’s performances and believes the winger is rediscovering his confidence.
“I was delighted with his first game,” Pellegrini said. “He is someone who is refinding his confidence because he has the quality, that’s why [United] paid so much for him.”
Antony’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain. He is currently on loan at Betis until the end of the season, but his contract with United runs until 2027, with the option to extend for a further year.
It remains to be seen whether Antony will return to Old Trafford next season or make his move to Betis permanent. However, his impressive start to life in Spain suggests that he has a bright future ahead of him.
