Argentina delivered a masterclass performance as they demolished Bolivia 6-0 in a FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier at the Estadio Mâs Monumental in Buenos Aires. The Albiceleste, led by a sensational Lionel Messi, outclassed their opponents from the first whistle, with Messi starring with a hat-trick and two assists in a commanding display.

The match started with Argentina pressing high, and it didn’t take long for Messi to make his mark. In the 19th minute, Lautaro Martinez’s pressure forced a turnover, allowing Messi to pounce on the ball, race into the box, and coolly slot it past Bolivia’s goalkeeper, Guillermo Viscarra. The crowd erupted as chants of “Messi, Messi” filled the stadium.

Argentina continued to dominate, with Messi orchestrating the play. In the 43rd minute, Julian Alvarez found Messi with a clever through ball, and the Argentine captain unselfishly squared it to Lautaro Martinez, who doubled Argentina’s lead. Just before halftime, Messi delivered a pinpoint pass to Alvarez, who made it 3-0 with a composed finish, putting Argentina firmly in control.

The second half saw more of the same dominance. In the 70th minute, Thiago Almada got in on the action, finishing a brilliant team move with a first-time shot from Nahuel Molina’s cross. Argentina’s relentless attack showed no signs of slowing down, and the Bolivian defense struggled to cope.

Messi then completed his hat-trick with two goals in the final ten minutes. His second came in the 84th minute after a surging run and right-footed strike, while the third was a trademark curling effort into the bottom corner in the 86th minute after combining with Nico Paz.

Bolivia offered little in response, with their rare forays forward being easily dealt with by Argentina’s backline. The world champions showed why they are favorites to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, dominating possession and creating chances at will. With this victory, Argentina remains top of the South American qualification standings, boasting an impressive 22 points.

Messi’s three goals and two assists marked yet another legendary performance, further cementing his status as one of football’s all-time greats. Argentina’s fans will be buzzing with excitement as their team continues its march towards the 2026 World Cup with confidence and flair.
