Arsenal delivered a devastating 6-0 blow to West Ham United on Sunday, securing a decisive victory that keeps them firmly in contention for the Premier League title. The Gunners avenged earlier losses this season, obliterating their London rivals with a ruthless first-half display.

Mikel Arteta’s team, facing pressure after earlier wins by rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, dominated from the opening whistle. William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, and Leandro Trossard all struck before halftime, leaving West Ham in tatters.

The onslaught continued in the second half. Saka added his second goal of the match, with former West Ham star Declan Rice, who assisted two goals in the first half, blasting in the team’s sixth. The result marked a humiliating day for West Ham and their devastated fans.

The victory was a statement of intent by Arsenal, who now boast an identical 52 points with league leaders Manchester City. Though in third place due to inferior goal difference, Arsenal remains a formidable force in the title race.

West Ham fans, remembering a 2-0 win over Arsenal in December, might have feared a repeat performance. However, Arsenal’s clinical finishing banished any such apprehension.

“It was a brilliant performance from the start to the end, we dominated and controlled everything and today we were really sharp in front of goal as well,” Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard said. “We backed up a big win last week [against Liverpool] with another great performance.”

West Ham’s collapse after Saliba’s opener was swift and brutal. Thousands of home fans streamed out before halftime, spared the sight of their team’s worst home league defeat since 1963.
