Barcelona’s Japan Friendly Reinstated After Contract Resolution

Barcelona have confirmed their pre-season friendly against Vissel Kobe will proceed as originally scheduled after resolving contractual disputes with the match promoter. The La Liga champions announced on Friday that the issues that initially forced the cancellation of Sunday’s fixture in Japan have now been settled.

The club stated the squad is currently en route to Japan to begin their Asia tour, which will also include scheduled matches against South Korean sides FC Seoul (31 July) and Daegu FC (4 August). Barcelona’s statement did not disclose specific details about the contractual disagreements but emphasised the importance of fulfilling their commitments to supporters in the region.

This resolution comes just two days after Barcelona initially suspended the Vissel Kobe match, citing “serious contractual breaches” by the promoter. The Japanese club, formerly home to Barcelona legend Andrés Iniesta, had earlier expressed regret over the potential cancellation but confirmed collaboration with relevant parties to resolve the situation.

With the tour back on track, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick will now be able to continue preparations for the new season against competitive opposition. The matches in Japan and South Korea form a crucial part of the club’s pre-season schedule ahead of their La Liga title defence.
