Brentford Deepen Leicester’s Woes with Dominant Away Victory
Leicester City’s Premier League survival hopes suffered another major blow as they were comprehensively defeated 4-0 by Brentford at the King Power Stadium, prompting a furious reaction from the home supporters. The Foxes have now lost six consecutive home league matches without scoring, a record for a top-flight team within a single season.
Goals from Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, Christian Norgaard, and substitute Fabio Carvalho secured a comfortable victory for Brentford, lifting them to 10th in the table and reigniting their aspirations of European qualification.
Leicester, meanwhile, remain mired in the relegation zone, sitting second from bottom and two points adrift of safety. The defeat, their 10th in the last 11 league games, further intensifies the pressure on manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who has overseen just two wins in 13 league matches since his appointment in November.
The atmosphere at the King Power Stadium was toxic, with Leicester fans directing chants against Director of Football Jon Rudkin and the club’s board. A significant number of supporters staged a walkout following Brentford’s third goal, highlighting the growing discontent and disillusionment.

Brentford took control early, with Wissa opening the scoring in the 17th minute after a well-executed through-ball from Mikkel Damsgaard. Mbeumo doubled the lead with a curling effort in the 27th minute, and Norgaard headed home a third five minutes later, effectively ending the contest before halftime.
Brentford could have had more before the break, with Kevin Schade hitting the post and Keane Lewis-Potter having a goal disallowed for handball. Mads Hermansen produced a fine save to deny Yehor Yarmoliuk in the second half, but Carvalho eventually added a fourth in the closing stages, completing a miserable evening for Leicester.

The King Power Stadium was largely deserted by the final whistle, a stark reflection of the team’s performance and the fans’ frustration. Apart from a brief on-field disagreement between Boubakary Soumare and goalkeeper Hermansen, Leicester displayed little fight or resistance.
Van Nistelrooy acknowledged the severity of the situation, describing the performance as “a huge step back” and expressing concern about the team’s prospects. While Leicester remain within touching distance of safety, their current form and the evident lack of confidence raise serious doubts about their ability to avoid relegation.
In contrast, Brentford’s victory, only their fourth away win of the season, has revitalized their European ambitions. Manager Thomas Frank spoke of “dreams” of European qualification, with the team now just four points behind seventh-placed Newcastle United. Their upcoming fixtures against Everton, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Newcastle will be crucial in determining their chances of achieving a top-seven finish. Frank has built an attractive, attacking side, that is close to achieving a European spot.
