Chelsea have had a £64 million offer for Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott rejected, with the Cherries making it clear they have no intention of selling one of their key players this summer.
The west London club’s approach was swiftly turned down, and Bournemouth have informed Chelsea that they do not welcome further bids. The south coast side remain determined to retain the England Under-21 international despite growing interest from across the Premier League.
Scott’s future has become one of the biggest talking points of the transfer window after he rejected a new contract offer that has been on the table for at least two months. Even so, Bournemouth have consistently maintained, both publicly and privately, that the 22-year-old is not for sale and will remain at the Vitality Stadium, even if he enters the final two years of his current deal.
Chelsea are not alone in monitoring the midfielder. Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur have all registered interest during the summer, while Arsenal also saw an earlier approach knocked back before turning their attention elsewhere.
Scott joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 in a deal worth £25 million and has developed into one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young midfielders. His performances helped Bournemouth secure Europa League qualification last season, strengthening the club’s resolve to build around him rather than cash in.
Bournemouth are also under little financial pressure to sanction a sale. Significant income generated from the departures of Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Ouattara over the past year has left the club in a strong position to resist offers for their remaining stars.
The club have adopted a similar stance over highly rated forward Junior Kroupi, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham, while Brazilian youngster Rayan is also expected to stay after arriving only in January. Bournemouth’s message has been consistent throughout the window: their leading young talents are central to their plans for the new campaign.
