England player ratings vs France: Saka steals the show in World Cup thriller
England rounded off their 2026 World Cup campaign with a remarkable 6-4 victory over France to secure third place in Miami. Bukayo Saka produced the standout display of the night with a hat-trick, while Declan Rice, Ezri Konsa and Jude Bellingham also found the net in a record-breaking third-place play-off.
Goalkeeper & Defence
Dean Henderson โ 5/10ย Handed his first start of the tournament, Henderson had little to do before the interval as England dominated. France’s second-half rally left him exposed, with four goals conceded despite few obvious mistakes.
Jarell Quansah โ 6/10ย Looked composed during England’s commanding first-half display and dealt well with the early pressure. Found life harder after the break before departing with an injury.
Ezri Konsa โ 8/10ย Rose brilliantly to head home England’s second from a Declan Rice corner. Defended confidently for long spells and capped another assured tournament with an important goal.
Marc Guehi โ 6/10ย Read the game well before the interval and marshalled the back line effectively. England’s defensive collapse after the break reduced the shine on an otherwise tidy performance.
Djed Spence โ 8/10ย A constant outlet down the left and one of England’s most consistent performers throughout the tournament. Won the late penalty that allowed Saka to complete his hat-trick after another energetic display.
Midfield & Attack
Declan Rice โ 8/10ย Set the tone with a superb strike inside three minutes and later supplied the corner for Konsa’s goal. Captained England impressively and controlled midfield for much of the contest.
Eberechi Eze โ 7/10ย Linked play intelligently and provided the assist for Saka’s second goal. His composure in possession helped England dominate the opening period.
Morgan Rogers โ 6/10. Covered plenty of ground and worked diligently without producing a defining attacking contribution. A disciplined rather than spectacular display.
Marcus Rashford โ 7/10ย Created Saka’s third goal with a well-weighted pass after spotting the space behind France’s defence. Offered pace and direct running throughout.
Bukayo Saka โ 9/10 โญ Player of the Matchย England’s brightest player delivered his finest performance of the tournament. Three goals, relentless attacking intent and constant danger made him the outstanding performer on the pitch. His late penalty completed a deserved hat-trick and sealed his place in the history books.
Ivan Toney โ 5/10ย Battled well against France’s centre-backs but received limited service. His hold-up play was useful without leading to clear opportunities.

Substitutes
Ollie Watkins โ 5/10 Worked hard after replacing Toney but found chances difficult to come by as France controlled more of the second half.
Reece James โ 4/10. Introduced after Quansah’s injury and endured a difficult spell as France pressed for an unlikely comeback.
Elliot Anderson โ 5/10ย Added fresh legs in midfield and helped England regain some composure during the closing stages.
Jude Bellingham โ 7/10ย Needed only a brief cameo to make his mark, scoring England’s sixth goal in stoppage time. His seventh goal of the tournament set a new England World Cup record.
Trevoh Chalobah โ N/Aย Made his World Cup debut in the closing moments and was on the pitch too briefly to receive a rating.
