Ethan Ampadu joins Sheffield United on season-long loan
Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu has joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan. This is his second loan spell with the first one being at RB Leipzig where he played alongside Timo Werner.
Ampadu played a lot fewer games for Leipzig than expected. The hope with Sheffield is that he will get much more game time to continue his development.
United have made a third signing of the day, with Chris Wilder adding a versatile Welsh international to his squad.

Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu arrives at the Lane on a season-long loan. ✍️
Sheffield mainly think of him as a defensive midfielder but Ampadu is comfortable at CB as well so Sheffield United could deploy him in that position whenever needed.
It is felt Premier League experience will be great for Ampadu’s development as the English game is considered to be more physical and taxing.
Ampadu originally wanted to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea but the club is trying for Declan Rice which would decrease Ampadu’s playing time. Hence, Ampadu and the club decided it was beneficial for him to go out on loan and gain more experience and playing time.
