In a stellar display, Victor Boniface led Bayer Leverkusen to a commanding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, shining as the star of the match.

This win further cements Leverkusen’s position at the top of the Bundesliga, now seven points clear.

Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten side got off to a strong start in the 14th minute when the 22-year-old Nigerian international, Boniface, demonstrated his prowess.

He deftly navigated through Frankfurt’s defense and slipped a low shot past both the defenders and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, netting his ninth goal of the campaign.

Leverkusen continued their offensive pressure, narrowly missing an extension of their lead when Alejandro Grimaldo’s free-kick hit the crossbar in the 35th minute.

The advantage was eventually doubled early in the second half by Jeremie Frimpong, who pounced on a rebound following Trapp’s save of another Boniface effort.

Boniface’s impact was further underscored as he cleverly assisted Florian Wirtz for Leverkusen’s third goal, with Wirtz elegantly chipping the ball over the goalkeeper.

Leverkusen, on a high with 39 points, leads the Bundesliga, while reigning champions Bayern Munich, who are set to play VfB Stuttgart and have a game in hand, sit at second with 32 points.

The Bundesliga is poised for a winter break after the next week’s games and will return to action on January 12.
