Lille produced a stunning performance to secure a 6-1 victory over Feyenoord and clinch a top-eight finish in the Champions League group stage. The French side’s emphatic win saw them leapfrog several teams to claim a place in the last 16, avoiding the play-off round.

Osame Sahraoui opened the scoring for Lille early on, before a Santiago Gimenez own goal and a strike from Jonathan David gave them a commanding lead. Two further own goals, from Gernot Trauner and David Hancko, along with a Remy Cabella strike, completed the rout for Lille.

Feyenoord’s only goal came from Gimenez, who briefly leveled the score in the first half. Despite the heavy defeat, Feyenoord also secured a place in the play-off round, finishing 19th in the league phase.

Lille’s impressive performance against Feyenoord capped off a remarkable Champions League campaign. Having entered the competition through the preliminary knockout rounds, they exceeded expectations with a series of strong performances, including victories over Atletico Madrid, Bologna, and Real Madrid.

Their attacking prowess was on full display against Feyenoord, with Sahraoui, David, and Cabella all finding the net. The win highlights Lille’s strength and their ability to compete with Europe’s elite clubs.

Feyenoord, despite securing a play-off spot, will be disappointed with their heavy defeat. They struggled to contain Lille’s attacking threat and were punished for their defensive errors.

Lille’s victory sees them finish seventh in the Champions League group stage, securing automatic qualification for the last 16. Feyenoord, meanwhile, will face a two-legged play-off tie against either AC Milan or Juventus.
