Mesut Ozil hails Qatar’s perfect World Cup organization amid German exit

Former Germany super star Mesut Ozil has lauded the hosts Qatar for their wonderful hospitality and perfect organization. In one of his first updates about the ongoing FIFA World Cup, the 2014 winner shared his joy and excitement for being in Qatar.

“Great to be in Qatar for the #Worldcup2022.  Thanks for the great hospitality & the perfect organization – it’s always a pleasure to be here. All the best to Qatar for the remaining tournament – insha’Allah we see us soon again.”

The former Arsenal man wrote on his social media hours before Germany crashed out of the tournament thanks to their lackluster performance in the first two matches.

Ozil quit Germany team in 2018 citing racism and discrimination as he was singled out for criticism after the reigning champions’ World Cup debacle in Russia.

His powerful statement “I’m a German when we win, but I’m an immigrant when we lose” is still resonated as the Qatari fans recently staged a counter protest Germany holding Ozil’s placards.

Germany players had lodged their protest over the “One Love” armband by covering their mouths with hands during a team photo ahead of their first group match against Japan.
