Simone Inzaghi Appointed Al-Hilal Head Coach After Inter Milan Exit
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal announced on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, that they have appointed Simone Inzaghi as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The 49-year-old Italian manager’s move comes just a day after he officially left Inter Milan, a tenure which concluded with a 5-0 loss to Paris St-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final and a trophyless season for the Italian club.
The signing reportedly took place in Paris, with Italian media suggesting the lucrative contract could be worth up to €30 million ($34.25 million) per season. Al-Hilal announced the appointment on social media, referring to their new manager as “The Italian Genius.”
Despite the difficult end to his final season, Inzaghi enjoyed a successful period at Inter Milan, winning six trophies: one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia triumphs, and three Italian Super Cups.
He now takes the helm at one of Asia’s most decorated clubs. Al-Hilal have been crowned Saudi Arabian champions a record 19 times and have won the AFC Champions League on four occasions.
Inzaghi’s first major task will be to lead Al-Hilal at the expanded 32-team FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, which kicks off this month. His first match in charge will be a high-profile encounter against record European champions Real Madrid on June 18.
