Erik Ten Hag suffered a disappointing defeat in the opening Premier League competition while the opposition, Brighton secure their first win at Old Trafford.

Pascal Gross’ outstanding performance including two early goals gave his side an opening break at Old Trafford, while Erik ten Hag encountered his first Premier League defeat as United’s new boss.

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench at the 53rd minute of the game. Nevertheless, He couldn’t help United to get a draw, as United pulled one back with Alexis Mac Alister’s own goal. True that united toiled at their home to break Brighton’s defense, but didn’t have much chance for a leveler.

Brighton appeared unflinching in both halves and took the early advantage in the match. Graham Potter’s side had a great performance the other day and they tailored a nice start for their Premier League campaign.

Erik Ten Hag describes their first home defeat as: “a real disappointment today and we have to deal with it”. Throughout the match, it seemed some tactical issues are still bothering the United side as they finished sixth place in the previous season.

“We can’t ask for much more: three points away to Manchester United in their first home game. It’s a big win for us today. I don’t know why I score so many against United. I would love to score more goals against other teams. I think we played well. The gameplan was really good; we stuck to it and we were clinical in front of goal”, said Pascal Gross.
