Tottenham Hotspur secured their place in the Europa League last 16 with a 3-0 win over Elfsborg, thanks to an impressive display from their young stars. Despite suffering another injury setback, Spurs’ next generation stepped up to deliver a comfortable victory and ensure their progression in the competition.

Teenagers Mikey Moore, Dane Scarlett, and Damola Ajayi all scored their first senior goals for Tottenham, with Moore’s strike making him the youngest-ever English scorer in major men’s European competition.

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. Moore came closest to breaking the deadlock, but his effort was saved by Elfsborg goalkeeper Isak Pettersson.

However, Tottenham took control in the second half, with Scarlett heading home a Dejan Kulusevski cross to open the scoring. Ajayi then doubled their lead with a confident finish, before Moore sealed the victory with a superb solo effort in stoppage time.

Moore’s goal was a historic moment for Tottenham, as the 17-year-old broke Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record to become the youngest English scorer in major European competition. His impressive performance highlighted the potential of Tottenham’s young talents.

Despite the victory, Tottenham’s injury woes continued, with substitute defender Radu Dragusin forced off with an injury. This adds to an already lengthy injury list that includes several key players.

With their place in the Europa League last 16 secured, Tottenham can now turn their attention to their domestic campaign. They currently sit 15th in the Premier League and face a crucial London derby against Brentford on Sunday. Manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that his team can build on this European success and improve their league form.
