Bayer Leverkusen finish in top 8 with Win Over Sparta Prague
Bayer Leverkusen booked their place in the Champions League last 16 with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sparta Prague. Goals from Florian Wirtz and Nathan Tella secured the win for Xabi Alonso’s side, who finished sixth in the group stage and will now bypass the play-off round.
Leverkusen dominated the match from the outset and took the lead in the 32nd minute when Wirtz finished off a flowing move. Tella then added a second goal in the 64th minute, capitalizing on a rebound from Alejandro Grimaldo’s free-kick.
Sparta Prague offered little resistance and rarely threatened the Leverkusen goal, ending their Champions League campaign with a disappointing defeat.
This victory was a testament to Leverkusen’s impressive form under Alonso. They controlled the game from start to finish, creating numerous chances and limiting Sparta Prague’s attacking opportunities.
