Inter Milan sack Spalletti as Conte closes to take charge
Inter Milan has sacked manager Luciano Spalletti with the Italian club expected to replace him with former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
Spalletti, who had a contract until 2021, led Inter into the Champions League for the first time in six years in the first of his two seasons.
“FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that Luciano Spalletti is no longer head coach of the first team,” the club said on their Twitter feed. “The club wishes to thank Spalletti for his work and the results achieved together.”

This year his side finished fourth in Serie A ahead of rivals AC Milan thanks to the final day victory over Empoli to take them level on points with third placed Atlanta and a back to back entry into Champions League.

Conte has been out of the game since being dismissed by Chelsea last July.
