Late goals from Khephren Thuram and Teun Koopmeiners earned Juventus a 2-0 victory over Hellas Verona in Serie A on [Day of the Week – implied as Monday based on previous context], extending their winning streak to five league matches. The win lifts Juventus two points above fifth-placed Lazio, who had briefly moved into the top four with a victory at AC Milan on Sunday.

The match was played against a backdrop of fan discontent. Juventus supporters, frustrated by the team’s underwhelming season, staged a protest outside the team hotel on Sunday night and launched critical chants at manager Thiago Motta. The fans also loudly booed the players off at half-time. The protests reflect disappointment with Juve’s exit from the Champions League play-offs to PSV Eindhoven and their six-point deficit to league leaders Inter, despite significant pre-season investment in the squad.

Verona almost took the lead just before halftime, but Toma Suslov’s powerful shot was disallowed for an offside by Davide Faraoni in the build-up.

Despite dominating possession throughout the match, Juventus struggled to break down a resolute Verona defense for much of the contest. Goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo was instrumental in keeping Verona in the game, producing several saves.

However, French midfielder Thuram finally broke the deadlock, just as fan frustration was mounting. Koopmeiners then sealed the victory with his third goal of the season, giving the scoreline a more convincing appearance. The late goals secured a crucial three points for Juventus, keeping them in contention for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification, despite the ongoing fan unrest.
