Martinez’s Deflected Strike Earns United Victory at Fulham

Manchester United secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage thanks to a late deflected strike from Lisandro Martinez. The victory marks United’s second consecutive win and lifts them to 12th in the Premier League table.

In a largely uneventful match, both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances. Fulham were the better side in the first half, with Raul Jimenez missing a golden opportunity to give the hosts the lead. However, United grew into the game after the break and snatched the winner in the 78th minute when Martinez’s effort deflected off Sasa Lukic and looped over Bernd Leno.

United’s Late Heroics and Fulham’s Frustration

This late winner continues United’s recent trend of scoring decisive goals in the closing stages of matches. Amad Diallo’s hat-trick secured a dramatic comeback victory against Southampton, while Bruno Fernandes’s 90th-minute strike earned them a win over Rangers in the Europa League.

Despite the victory, United’s performance was far from convincing. They struggled to create chances and were reliant on a fortunate deflection for the winning goal. Manager Ruben Amorim will be hoping for a more complete performance from his team in the upcoming matches.

Fulham, meanwhile, will be disappointed to have left empty-handed. They were the better side for much of the match, but their failure to convert their chances proved costly. The defeat ends their unbeaten home run and leaves them in 10th place in the Premier League table.
