Paul Pogba’s Next Move: Where Will the French Star Land After His Suspension?
With his ban nearing its end, Pogba faces a crucial decision—will he return to Europe’s elite, reunite with Mourinho, or take a lucrative Saudi offer?
Paul Pogba is finally set to return to football after serving an 18-month doping suspension, and speculation is growing about where he will play next. The former Manchester United and Juventus star is now a free agent. He has a wealth of experience but also faces major challenges, including his fitness, age, and recent history of injuries. At 32, Pogba must find a club that not only believes in his talent but is also willing to take a gamble on his ability to rediscover his best form.

So, where will Pogba end up?
Manchester United
Pogba’s recent Instagram post featuring himself in a United kit sparked rumors of a return to Old Trafford. However, while a segment of fans may welcome him back, the club’s leadership is unlikely to take the risk. Pogba’s final years at United were marked by inconsistency, injuries, and off-field distractions. New manager Ruben Amorim will be looking for stability, not more uncertainty. Given the club’s struggles in midfield, some might argue Pogba could help. But the baggage that comes with his return makes this move highly unlikely.

Atlético Madrid
Reports from Spain suggest Atlético Madrid could be interested, with Antoine Griezmann potentially playing a role in bringing his close friend to the club. Pogba’s talent is undeniable, and Atlético could use midfield reinforcements after Koke’s injury. However, Diego Simeone is a demanding coach who expects relentless work rate and defensive discipline, two aspects of Pogba’s game that have been questioned before. If Pogba struggles to adapt, he could quickly find himself out of favor, much like Joao Félix.
Inter Miami
Pogba has spent time in Florida recently, and Inter Miami would be an appealing destination. The club, backed by David Beckham, has already built a star-studded squad featuring Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Sergio Busquets. However, MLS has strict salary cap rules, and Miami may not have the financial flexibility to accommodate Pogba. While a move to the U.S. could be attractive for lifestyle reasons, it remains an outside possibility.

Marseille
Marseille were reportedly interested in Pogba earlier this year but opted against signing him at the time. However, they remain a potential landing spot. A move to Ligue 1 would give Pogba a strong chance of returning to the French national team, and Marseille could use his experience as they aim for Champions League qualification. Coach Roberto De Zerbi seemed open to the idea but cautious about how Pogba would fit into his system. If Pogba proves his fitness, Marseille could revisit their interest.

Fenerbahçe
A move to Fenerbahçe would be one of the more dramatic outcomes, as it could reunite Pogba with José Mourinho. The two had a turbulent relationship at Manchester United, but Pogba’s best form at the club came under Mourinho. Fenerbahçe are in a fierce title race and need reinforcements in midfield. The Turkish league would provide a competitive environment without the same physical intensity as the Premier League. If Mourinho is open to working with Pogba again, this move could happen.

Al-Nassr
The Saudi Pro League has been a popular destination for aging European stars, and Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays, could be the perfect fit for Pogba. Reports suggest that Ronaldo has already invited his former teammate to join him. With the financial incentives and lower physical demands, this move would allow Pogba to regain match fitness while earning a lucrative salary.
Furthermore, players like N’Golo Kanté have used the Saudi league to work their way back into the France squad, so Pogba could follow a similar path. Given his current situation, this seems like the most realistic option.

While Pogba may dream of returning to a Champions League club, the reality is that most top European teams are unlikely to take the risk. His best options lie in leagues where he can rebuild his confidence without intense media scrutiny. A move to Al-Nassr seems the most probable due to the financial benefits and the presence of familiar faces like Ronaldo. However, Fenerbahçe under Mourinho is another strong possibility if Pogba wants to remain in a competitive European league.
If Pogba proves he can stay fit and perform at a high level, he may still have one final chapter left in Europe’s elite competitions. But for now, expect him to take a more pragmatic approach and choose a destination that allows him to play regularly while securing his financial future.
