PSG Maintain Unbeaten League Run with Win Over Le Havre
Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain continued their pursuit of an unbeaten domestic season with a comfortable 2-1 victory over relegation-threatened Le Havre at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
With the league title already secured two weeks prior and having progressed to the Champions League semi-finals midweek, manager Luis Enrique made nine changes to his starting lineup. Despite the rotation, PSG took the lead in just the eighth minute when Désiré Doué’s shot deflected into the net after good work from Bradley Barcola.
The hosts dominated the first half but only held a single-goal advantage at the break. They doubled their lead five minutes into the second half when 18-year-old Senny Mayulu skillfully lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Mathieu Gorgelin, allowing Gonçalo Ramos a simple tap-in.
Le Havre pulled a goal back on the hour mark when Issa Soumaré headed home from a corner kick. However, the visitors couldn’t create further clear chances against the Parisian defence.
The win marks PSG’s 10th consecutive league victory and extends their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 this season to 29 matches. With five games remaining, they are aiming to become the first French team since Nantes in 1994-95 to complete a top-flight season undefeated.
PSG, still chasing a potential treble, extended their lead over second-placed AS Monaco to 24 points.6 Le Havre remain 16th, occupying the relegation play-off spot, three points ahead of Saint-Étienne who play Lyon on Sunday.
