Paris Saint-Germain continued their seemingly inexorable march towards the Ligue 1 title with a 4-1 victory over Lille at the Parc des Princes on Saturday. All four PSG goals were scored in a dominant first-half display, overwhelming the visitors.

The win extends PSG’s lead at the top of the table to 16 points, with 62 points from 24 matches. Second-placed Olympique de Marseille host Nantes on Sunday, while third-placed Nice won 3-1 at St Etienne.

PSG’s relentless attacking pressure forced numerous saves from Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier throughout the match. Bradley Barcola opened the scoring in the sixth minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after Chevalier had saved an Ousmane Dembele effort.

Captain Marquinhos doubled PSG’s lead in the 22nd minute, scrambling the ball over the line amidst a crowded penalty area. Dembele then effectively sealed the victory in the 28th minute, adding a third goal.

Desire Doue completed the first-half rout in the 37th minute, scoring with a brilliant strike from a tight angle. The goal left Lille with a mountain to climb in the second half.

While both teams created chances after the break, the outcome was rarely in doubt. Jonathan David scored a consolation goal for Lille in the 80th minute, reducing the final deficit.

The defeat leaves Lille in fifth place with 41 points, two points behind fourth-placed AS Monaco. PSG’s dominant performance underlined their superiority in Ligue 1 and their relentless pursuit of another title.
