Salah Drops Bombshell as Liverpool Future Plunged Into Uncertainty After Leeds Draw“
Mohamed Salah has cast major doubt over his Liverpool future after publicly revealing a complete breakdown in his relationship with manager Arne Slot, following the club’s 3–3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters after the Premier League clash at Elland Road, the 33-year-old forward said he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club and could not understand why he had been left on the bench for a third straight match — and not even brought on as a substitute.
“I couldn’t believe I was on the bench again”
Salah admitted he was stunned to watch the entire game from the sidelines despite being one of the club’s most consistent performers.
“I’ve done so much for this club, especially last season,” he said. “Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. It feels like someone wants me to take the blame for everything.”
He added that several promises made to him in the summer “haven’t been kept”.
Relationship with Slot ‘non-existent’
When asked directly whether his relationship with Arne Slot had broken down, Salah replied:
“Yes. There is no relationship now. It used to be very good, and suddenly it’s gone.”
Slot later defended his selection choices, saying he adapted the team to deal with Leeds’ strengths, but acknowledged that leaving Salah out again “was not an easy decision”.
Hints that Brighton match could be a farewell
Salah revealed he told his family to attend next weekend’s home match against Brighton, suggesting it may be his last game at Anfield before he joins Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15.
“I will enjoy that game because I don’t know what will happen after,” he said. “I will be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans before going to AFCON.”
Asked whether it could be his final appearance for Liverpool, Salah replied:
“In football, you never know. But I cannot accept this situation.”
Saudi interest remains
The forward has been linked with a possible January move to the Saudi Pro League, though any deal is expected to be complicated — especially with Salah away on international duty next month.
Liverpool facing critical crossroads
Salah’s explosive public comments come at a difficult time for Arne Slot, who is under pressure after a disappointing run of results. The public confirmation of a broken relationship between the club’s star player and its manager raises major questions about Liverpool’s direction heading into the January transfer window.
