Tottenham Complete £55m Signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Ghana international midfielder Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for a reported fee of £55 million, subject to a work permit.
The 24-year-old has signed a six-year contract with the North London club, keeping him at Spurs until 2031. The deal was reached after West Ham rejected an initial £50 million bid from Tottenham last week. Kudus reportedly had an £85 million release clause in his contract with the Hammers.
“I have always wanted to play at the highest level,” Kudus said in an interview with the club’s media channels. “How big the club is, the history and the Champions League as well, so it’s a big moment. I’m very happy and can’t wait to start.”
Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax in August 2023 for £38 million and became a key player, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists in 65 Premier League appearances.
He cited new Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou last month, as a significant factor in his decision to move to the club. “From where [Frank] has come from, and seeing the amount of talent he has developed to become great players, it’s a big sign as to why I wanted to work under him as well,” Kudus explained.
Sources told BBC Sport that Kudus prioritised the move to Tottenham despite reported interest from at least six other top clubs.
The signing continues a busy transfer period for Tottenham, who are also expected to complete a £60 million deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, with the player reportedly set for a medical on Friday.
