Manchester City Suffer Fourth Consecutive Defeat

Liverpool strengthened their grip on the Premier League with a commanding 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Anfield, deepening the reigning champions’ crisis. The result saw City extend their winless streak to seven matches, a run that has left their title hopes in tatters, and four Consecutive Defeat on premier league. With Liverpool now nine points clear at the top of the table and City 11 points adrift, it looks increasingly unlikely that Guardiola’s side will mount a successful title defense this season.

The match was a showcase of Liverpool’s dominance, starting with an early goal from Cody Gakpo, who capitalized on a well-timed pass from Mohamed Salah. City struggled to match Liverpool’s intensity, and their defensive frailties were evident throughout. Virgil van Dijk came close to doubling the lead with a header that struck the post, while goalkeeper Stefan Ortega made key saves to keep the scoreline from growing further.

In the second half, City’s woes continued. Salah missed a chance to extend the lead after a defensive mix-up, but the Egyptian forward eventually sealed the win with a penalty, following a foul on Luis Diaz by Ortega. Despite some bright moments, including a recovery tackle from Matheus Nunes to deny Gakpo a second goal, City were outclassed by a fast, clinical Liverpool side.

Guardiola, whose team has now lost four consecutive Premier League games for the first time since 2008, was met with chants of “You’re getting sacked in the morning” from the Anfield crowd. In response, the City manager reflected on his six Premier League titles, acknowledging the pressure but accepting the criticism as part of the game.  Consecutive Defeat

Liverpool’s victory marked another step in their impressive campaign under manager Arne Slot, who praised his players for their work ethic and near-perfect performance. The win also sets up a crucial week for Liverpool, with matches against Newcastle and Everton on the horizon.

For Guardiola, the road ahead looks increasingly difficult, as City’s early-season struggles raise serious questions about their chances of finishing in the top four, let alone challenging for the title.
