Ashworth’s Departure
Dan Ashworth also left his position as sporting director in December, just five months after joining the club. His departure further adds to the financial burden associated with recent changes in personnel.
Financial Challenges
United’s financial report paints a concerning picture for the club. While commercial revenue has increased slightly due to a new shirt sponsorship deal, broadcasting revenue has plummeted due to their participation in the Europa League rather than the Champions League this season.
The club’s net finance costs have also risen significantly, primarily due to unfavorable foreign exchange rates.

Despite the financial challenges, Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada emphasized the club’s focus on improving the men’s team’s league position. They are currently 13th in the Premier League and face a battle to secure European qualification for next season.
The club has already embarked on a series of cost-cutting measures, including redundancies, and further cuts are expected. The financial report highlights the importance of Champions League football for United’s revenue, and their absence from the competition next season could have further financial implications.
