Barcelona strengthened their position at the top of La Liga with a commanding 3-0 victory over Alaves, powered by Robert Lewandowski’s first-half hat-trick. The win extended their lead to three points over Real Madrid at the Mendizorroza stadium. Lewandowski treble powers Liga leaders Barca to Alaves victory.

Lewandowski, who completed his treble in just 26 minutes, has now scored 10 goals in nine league games this season, cementing his position as La Liga’s top scorer. The 36-year-old striker’s impressive form has seen him net 12 goals in 11 matches across all competitions, showing marked improvement from last season.

Under new coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona secured their eighth win in nine league matches, dominating from the opening whistle. Alaves thought they had reduced the deficit before halftime when Toni Martinez headed home, but the goal was disallowed due to Nahuel Tenaglia being offside in the build-up.

The hosts continued to threaten in the second half, with Martinez hitting the post after a corner eluded Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena, who was deputizing for the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Alaves had another goal ruled out when Santiago Mourino’s header was flagged offside – one of 11 offside calls against the home side, largely due to Barcelona’s high defensive line.

Barcelona also created opportunities after the break, with Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera producing a fine save to deny Ansu Fati, who had replaced an unusually quiet Lamine Yamal.

The result keeps Barcelona firmly in control of the title race as the league heads into its next round of fixtures, which will see Atletico Madrid visit Real Sociedad and Sevilla host Real Betis in a derby clash later on Sunday.
