French national team captain and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé is facing allegations of rape stemming from an incident at a Stockholm hotel last Thursday.

Mbappé’s representatives vehemently deny the accusations, calling them “totally false” and “a slanderous rumour.”

Swedish prosecutors have confirmed an investigation into an alleged rape at a hotel in central Stockholm, but have not named a suspect. However, Swedish media outlets, citing unnamed sources, have identified Mbappé as the subject of the investigation.

“A new slanderous rumour is starting to ignite the web,” Mbappé’s representatives said in a statement. “These accusations are totally false and irresponsible, and their propagation is unacceptable.

Kylian Mbappé will under no circumstances tolerate his integrity, reputation and honour being sullied by unfounded insinuations.”

Mbappé’s lawyer, Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, stated that Mbappé “has done nothing wrong” and is “serene but flabbergasted by the media frenzy.”

She emphasized that Mbappé was never alone or in a compromising situation during his trip to Stockholm and will fully cooperate with Swedish authorities if necessary.

Mbappé himself took to social media to deny the allegations, posting “Fake News!!!!” in response to a news report on the matter.

According to reports, Mbappé was in Stockholm on a private trip with friends and left on Friday. The alleged victim filed a police report the following day.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority confirmed the existence of a criminal report related to a suspected rape in Stockholm, but provided no further details.
