Mbappe double puts PSG on the verge of Ligue 1 title
Kylian Mbappe’s brace against struggling Auxerre on Sunday pushed Paris Saint-Germain closer to a record 11th Ligue 1 title.
Defending champions PSG are six points ahead of second-placed Lens, who have a worse goal differential, and need just one point from their final two matches to clinch the championship.
Mbappe scored twice in the opening eight minutes for the visiting team.
Auxerre, who remain in danger of relegation, responded through Lassine Sinayoko.
The France captain demonstrated excellent footwork as he twisted and turned in the box to create space for the opening goal, followed by a magnificent first-time strike two minutes later.
PSG, which has won eight of the previous ten Ligue 1 championships, tied Marseille and Saint-Etienne’s record of 10 French titles last season.
