Defending champions Barcelona booked their place in the Women’s Champions League semi-finals with a commanding 6-1 home victory over VfL Wolfsburg on Thursday, March 27th, completing a resounding 10-2 aggregate win.

A blistering first-half performance set the tone for a dominant display by the Spanish side.

Barcelona started quickly, taking a 3-0 lead before halftime. Salma Paralluelo opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing low inside the far post after being set up by Aitana Bonmati. Paralluelo added her second 10 minutes later with a first-time shot from near the penalty spot.

Esmee Brugts made it three before the break with a powerful strike from outside the box.

Substitute Claudia Pina extended the lead shortly after the hour mark, scoring with a low shot just three minutes after coming off the bench.

Wolfsburg, two-time winners of the competition (2013, 2014), managed a consolation goal in the 72nd minute. A defensive error involving Barcelona goalkeeper Cata Coll allowed substitute Lineth Beerensteyn to score into an empty net, a goal confirmed after a VAR check.

However, Barcelona finished strongly. Pina scored her second goal, curling in a free kick off the post, before Maria Leon added a sixth with another powerful free kick in stoppage time, which rattled the crossbar before crossing the line.

Barcelona, targeting a third consecutive European title, will face Chelsea in the semi-finals in April. Chelsea completed a remarkable comeback to defeat Manchester City 3-2 on aggregate earlier on Thursday. The other semi-final will see Olympique Lyonnais face Arsenal.
