Liverpool Agree Deal for Striker Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt
Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool have reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign French striker Hugo Ekitiké, in a deal that continues their significant summer spending spree.
After being informed that Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak was not for sale, Liverpool moved swiftly to secure their alternative target. According to reports from The Athletic and Sky Sports, the clubs have agreed on the structure of a deal that could become a record sale for the Bundesliga side, surpassing the €95 million (£82.3 million) PSG paid for Randal Kolo Muani in 2023.
The fee is reported to be an initial €80-€90 million (£69m-£78m), with add-ons that could take the total package to €95 million. Ekitiké, 23, is expected to sign a six-year contract at Anfield.
The forward Hugo Ekitiké enjoyed a breakout season in 2024-25, scoring 22 goals in 48 appearances for Frankfurt and helping them qualify for the Champions League. His performances had attracted interest from several top clubs, including Newcastle, but it is understood Liverpool was his preferred destination.
Ekitiké’s impending arrival marks another major investment by manager Arne Slot as he reshapes his title-winning squad. The club has already broken the British transfer record this summer to sign Florian Wirtz for a potential £116 million, in addition to signing his former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez, taking their total summer expenditure well over £180 million.
